There’s so much evidence testifying to my television + music addiction on this blog.
This is “Beautiful Tree” by Rain Perry, the theme song for the new CW mid-season television series, “Life Unexpected.” I’m a big fan of Shiri Appleby’s, and all the other 3 main cast actors - Kristoffer Polaha, Kerr Smith and of course, Britt Robertson - have been giving strong, real performances. Plus, the writing has been excellent so far, in its reflection of the struggles and emotions that people in their situations would go through. The latest episode especially, hit all the nails, I think - the overbearing parent wanting to hit the reset button, the respected parent wanted to be thought of as fun, the fun parent going to oo far when he wants to lay down the law, the ex-foster care girl being ashamed for wanting to try living a normal, biggest-disaster-ever-in-life-is-not-having-a-place-to-party type life - all very honest explorations that have somehow not made it to the TV/film screen all that much before. The show has been described as “Juno meets Gilmore Girls” - that should give you an idea of how promising it’s been so far. Mega props to creator, Liz Tigelaar!
